Lewes District Council Launches Consultation On Licensing And Gambling Policies

Lewes District Council is proposing to make changes to its current licensing and gambling policies.

In a bid to gather residents' views, the authority has launched a six week public consultation.

Under scrutiny will be permissions for outside drinking areas and gaming machine permits, as well as hours shops and supermarkets can sell alcohol to customers.

Councillor Sean Macleod, Chair of Licensing Committee, said:

"I often think that the council's licensing role isn't as widely recognised and understood as it should be. It is a really important function and I know that many residents will have a view on these proposed changes in policy."

Residents can take part in the consultation online at www.lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk/consultations or by emailing CustomerFirst@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk with their views.

Consultation information is also available in a different language or format, such as paper copy via Customer First.

The closing date for responses is Monday September 20 at 5pm.
