Littlehampton And Bognor Among The Worst Seaside Towns - According To Survey

Bognor and Littlehampton have scored abysmally in comparison to more than 100 seaside towns across the UK.

A survey of 37,000 people by the independent consumer body Which has rated 105 of the UK's seaside towns.

Out of the seven Sussex towns included, Rye came in at the top in the 23rd spot; and Bognor just skimming the last place, at 102.

Bognor Regis was only given one star for 'value for money', the seafront and shopping.

The town's highest score was two stars, which was awarded to the beach, scenery and 'peace and quiet'.

Littlehampton is in 99th place, with three stars awarded for 'peace and quiet', scenery, and the seafront and beach area.

Shopping was the worst rated aspect of the town, scoring just one star.

Worthing is the last West Sussex town to appear in the chart, coming in at 78.

Ratings across the board were between two and three stars.

In East Sussex, Hastings came in at 85, again with the most highly commended area only scoring three stars.

That was for its food and drink, attractions, scenery and shopping; all other areas were given two stars.

Brighton was only in 70th place but achieved four stars for food and drink, attractions and scenery - with only one star for vaule for money.

In 47th place comes Eastbourne, scoring between three and four stars across the board.

And a full five stars was awarded for peace and quiet in Rye, which is in 23rd place.

The town achieved four stars in most other areas apart from shopping, which was given a rating of three stars.

Which said the survey was carried out before Covid-19.
