The Littlehampton RNLI crew rescued a dog on one three call-outs on Saturday (May, 30).

The charity said volunteers went out on their 'Ray of Hope' lifeboat at around 10.15am to help a whippet named Robbie, who accidentally fell into the River Arun from its western bank opposite Littlehampton pier.

Officials said Robbie, who is celebrating his eighth birthday next week, was reunited with his owners cold but unharmed.

At around 3.40pm, the crew were called on by HM Costguard to help a motor boat that had broken down about a mile off the coast of Littlehampton.

The station's 'Renee Sherman' lifeboat located the boat and its occupants before towing them back to the marina.

Less than half an hour later, volunteers were called out a third time to check on the passengers of a small catamaran which was entering the harbour, without an engine or sails.

The vessel made it to its own mooring without assistance.

Nick White, Lifeboat Operations Manager, said:

"With such glorious weather, it was no wonder we were called into service three times today.

"We are always on call to help, but would like to remind everyone visiting the coast to stay safe and be alert to any possible dangers."
