Drivers navigating a heavy hail storm last night had to take an alternative route between Pyecombe and Hickstead after a multi-vehicle collision closed a section of the road north and southbound.
A tweet from officer Andrew Heath alerted drivers to the diversion:
The roads were closed at around 1am.
At 2am the northbound side reopened, with the southbound side reopening at around 3am.
It's still unclear how many vehicles were involved.
