Man, 50, Hospitalised In Attack Outside Bognor Pier

A 26-year-old man's been arrested in connection with what police called an "unprovoked" attack outside Bognor Pier that left a 50-year-old man in hospital.

Police said, at about 9.20pm on Tuesday 8 June, a victim was assaulted on the pavement near the entrance to the pier by a group of four young men all described as white and aged about 18, between 5'8" and 6'.

Three of the four were wearing black and one was in all white.  

Two were described of officers as slim to medium build and two are described as of larger build. 

The victim was punched and kicked several times, sustaining cuts and bruising. 

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and after being interviewed was released under investigation.

As police enquiries continue, to trace suspects, Investigator Karen Hopewell-Stocks said:

"If you saw what happened or have any other information please contact us either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1618 of 08/06."
