Man and woman charged following series of reported thefts in Peacehaven and Saltdean

A man and a woman have been charged following reported thefts and a burglary last week in East Sussex. Police said a residential burglary was reported to them last Wednesday (April, 29) in Horsham Avenue, Peacehaven, at around 1.40pm. The victim took a photograph of a van suspected of being involved. Officers said the next day, on Thursday (April 30), the same van was subsequently mentioned in reports of two other thefts, in Downland Avenue, Peacehaven, and Lenham Avenue, Saltdean. The van was eventually stopped in Seaford after reports from the community. Mircea and Anita Constantin, both 45, unemployed, and of Horsham Road, Bexleyheath, Bexley, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft. Mircea was charged with one count of burglary with intent to steal, and two counts of theft. Anita was charged with three counts of theft. They were both released on bail to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court on July 2. Police are keen to hear from anyone in the area who may have had items taken from them, particularly metal items, last Thursday (April, 30). Anyone who thinks they may be a victim is asked to contact 101, quoting serial 47200071337.
