Man appears in court accused of stealing £20,000 caravan

A man has been remanded in custody after being accused of stealing a Swift caravan worth £20,000 in Hailsham earlier this month. Walter Doe, 29, a landscape gardener, of Station Road in the town, appeared before Brighton magistrates last Thursday (October, 24), charged with theft and burglary. It's alleged Mr Doe took the caravan on October 9, as well as trespassing in a building near Heathfield on September 23, with intent to steal. Police said he is due to appear in crown court on Thursday, November 21.
