Man Arrested After Digger Driven Into Bank In Hurstpierpoint

A 28-year-old man has been arrested after an ATM was stolen and a digger was driven into the wall of a bank in Hurstpierpoint, on Saturday.

As previously reported by More Radio, police said they were called to reports of a digger being driven into the wall of the Nationwide Building Society in the High Street, at around 3.45am.

The ATM was removed from the wall and driven away in a white Luton van, travelling west.

It was later found and recovered by officers that morning.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal, and going equipped for theft.

He was released on conditional bail until October 4 pending further enquiries.

Anyone who saw what happened, the digger, or the white van is urged to contact 101, quoting Operation Brunch.
