Officers have arrested a man and seized a crossbow after reports of concerns for a man on Tuesday (15).
Police said they were called to concerns for a man in distress inside the property in Portland Road, at around 4.10pm.
A man was arrested on suspicion of sending a malicious message and a crossbow was seized.
He remained in custody on Wednesday (16) afternoon.
A spokesperson from Sussex Police said:
"Police were called to Portland Road, Worthing, around 4.10pm on Tuesday (December 15) due to concerns for a man in distress inside a property.
"Officers attended and the man was arrested on suspicion of sending a false message by public electronic communication network to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety.
"He remains in custody at this time.
"No other persons were involved and no injuries were reported. A crossbow was found and seized from the address."
