Police investigating the rape of a woman on the seafront in Worthing have arrested a man. The 26-year-old victim was walking along New Parade off A259, near the Splash Point building site, when she was approached by a man at around 10.30pm on Sunday (September, 8). The man, who initially asked for directions, went on to take the victim to the beach where he allegedly raped her, according to officers. A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in custody for interview and further enquiries this afternoon (Wednesday, 11). Detective Sergeant Sally Hodges said: "Our investigation is continuing. If you were in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or if you have any other information that might help, please contact us online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Neston."
