Man Arrested Following Death Of Motorcyclist Near Petworth

A 27-year-old motorcyclist from Southwater has died after colliding with a car on the A272 near Petworth.

The incident happened at around 8pm last Wednesday (July 7) at Strood Green.

The driver of a blue range rover traveling south west, turned right into a driveway, across the oncoming path of the motorcyclist.

A black Kawasaki travelling in the opposite direction collided with the Range Rover, and despite the best efforts of passing members of the public and paramedics, the 27-year-old rider from Southwater was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 55-year-old from Wisborough Green has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

 He remains in police custody at this time.
