Man arrested in connection with attack in Brighton where man was reportedly stabbed with broken bottle

A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after another man was attacked and stabbed with a broken bottle in Brighton. Police said the victim was walking along Little Preston Street around 6.45pm on Friday (May, 8), when he was approached by two men. According to officers, he was hit around the head with a glass bottle which caused him to fall to the floor. He was then further assaulted and stabbed in the back with was believed to be the broken bottle. The suspects then ran off towards Western Road. The victim was taken to hospital, where police said he received hospital treatment for lacerations to his back. The first suspect is described as white, of a medium build, with short dark hair, wearing a grey t-shirt, black shorts and black trainers. The second suspect is described as white, wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded top, black trousers, and black trainers. A 40-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm later that evening, and was later released under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 1666 of 08/05.
