Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following double stabbing in Brighton

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following a double stabbing in Brighton city centre on Boxing Day (Thursday, 26). Officers were called to Western Road, close to the junction with Spring Street, shortly before 2pm, where two men were injured. A 45-year-old man from Brighton was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where police said he remains in critical condition, while a 38-year-old man from Hove is in a stable condition. Officers said a small knife was recovered at the scene. A 28-year-old man, of no fixed address, was detained a short while later on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody at this time. Chief Inspector Rachel Swinney said: "This appears to be an isolated incident, and I'd like to reassure the public that we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident. "We have increased our high visibility patrols in the area and our investigation is ongoing as we work to establish the full circumstances." Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting Operation Claygate.   More Radio is continuously dedicated to providing a quality news service on-air and online, reporting local stories that matter across Sussex.
