Man attacked by armed men with knife and handgun in St Leonards

A man has been injured after being attacked by men armed with a knife and a handgun in St Leonards. Police said a gunshot was heard during the incident at the junction of St Peter's Road and Chapel Park Road, shortly after 2.30pm on Saturday (November, 9). The victim was able to run off following the incident and disappeared into a nearby property, according to police. Officers said his assailants drove off in a black Range Rover or similar vehicle onto the A21 Bohemia Road. Armed police then responded to the incident and found the victim, who they said had minor injuries. DI Jon Gillings said: "This is a serious but isolated incident for the area. "We are following active lines of enquiry and an intensive investigation is underway to establish what happened. "At this stage, it does not appear to be a random attack. "Local people are being reassured that there is no current risk to their safety." Both suspected were described as white, 6' tall and of slim build. One was wearing a grey hooded jacket, grey trousers and a black baseball cap, while the other was dressed in an all-black tracksuit. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting Operation Kempsey.
