Man Charged After Woman Assaulted Inside Car In Brighton

A man has been sent for trial at Crown Court after being charged in connection with an assault on a woman in a car in Brighton on Saturday (25).

As More Radio previously reported, officers were called to reports of concerns for the female in a vehicle in Chesham Street in the afternoon.

Police said Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology allowed them to trace the vehicle to a car park at Brighton Marina, where the woman – the only occupant of the car – was found safe.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident on Sunday (26).

According to officers, Benjamin Samuels, 39, of Paulet Road, Lambeth, London, was charged with assault.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday (27).

The case was sent for trial at Lewes Crown Court on August 24.

The defendant was released on conditional bail until that date.
