Man Charged For Bognor Knifepoint Robberies

A man has been charged with committing three robberies in Bognor – two of which involved a knife.

Police were called to the News Box store in Gordon Avenue just before 9pm on Sunday, June 26, after a man threatened staff with a knife and forced them to empty the till. He made off with approximately £600.

Twelve days later on Friday, July 8, a man entered Castle Wines in Felpham Road, walked behind the till and emptied it. A second man was also arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a robbery after allegedly acting as a look out whilst the robbery took place.

The 31-year-old has been released under investigation.

Finally, just four days later on Tuesday, July 12, a man walked into the post office in Summerley Lane, armed with a craft knife and a hammer, demanding cash from the till.

Michael Jones, 28, of Belmont Street, Bognor, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 16 July and has been remanded in custody to await his next appearance on Monday August 15.

Anyone with information about any of incidents, should report online or ring 101 quoting serial 1268 of 26/06.
