Man charged in connection with armed robbery at Brighton bookies

A man has been charged in connection with a knifepoint robbery at a betting shop in Brighton. Armed police responded to a report that a man armed with a knife had gone into the Betfred bookmakers in Park Road, Brighton, on Monday evening (25 November), climbed on the counter and demanded the member of staff hand over cash from the safe. A man was arrested in the shop. Necat Karasahin, who is 28 and from Montague Street in the city, appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court yesterday (27 November) charged with robbery and possession of a knife in a public place. He was remanded in custody by magistrates to appear at crown court on 23 December.
