A man has been charged today (Friday, 13) with causing death by dangerous driving, following the death of a cyclist who was in collision with a car near Bexhill. The victim, Antoney Colley, was cycling along Combe Valley Way on Sunday, May 26, when a blue Vauxhall Astra collided with him. Police said the 53-year-old, of Sewell Avenue in Bexhill, died at the scene. Officers have now charged Matthew Gardiner, 34, with causing death by dangerous driving, and causing death while driving without due care and attention and, at the time, unfit to drive through drugs and under the influence of alcohol. Mr Gardiner, of Preston Road in Bexhill, was released on conditional bail to appear before Hastings Magistrates' Court on October 16.
