Man Charged With Dealing Drugs In Eastbourne

A man has been charged with possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply after plain-clothed officers witnessed a suspected drugs deal in King Edwards Parade.

James Barnes, 37, of no fixed address, was arrested by police in October 2021 following the suspected deal, and released under investigation while enquiries continued.

Last Thursday (May 26) he was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug (heroin) and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.

He appeared before Brighton Magistrates' Court on Friday (May 27) and has been remanded in custody.

Chief Inspector Di Lewis, district commander for Eastbourne, said:

Harmful and dangerous drugs have no place in our community and we will work hard to disrupt and prevent any activity around the supply and distribution of illegal substances.

“Anyone with information about drug-related activity is urged to report it to us online, by calling 101 or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always dial 999 in an emergency.”
