Man Confirmed Dead After Collision Near Wadhurst This Morning

It's been confirmed that a man died in a collision involving a single vehicle near Wadhurst this morning (December 14).

Police said that, at 3.17am today, they received a report that a vehicle had collided with a tree, south of the Flimwell crossroads on the A21 London Road in Flimwell, Wadhurst.

The passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the passenger and for next of kin to be informed.

According to officers, the driver left the vehicle — leading to police, assisted by a helicopter, conducting a search of the area.

A 30-year-old man from Kent was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The A21 re-opened at 2pm this afternoon.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any dash cam footage is asked to make contact with the police immediately.
