Man in 'critical' condition after being stabbed in the chest in Crawley

A man was left in a 'critical' condition after being chased by another man who stabbed him in the chest in Crawley yesterday morning (Sunday, 1). Police said the 30-year-old victim from London was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, following what officers called a 'violent and sustained' attack in Broadfield Barton around 11.40am. The suspect was described as black, aged between 18 and 20, slim, with short dark hair, and was wearing a light coloured tracksuit. Detective Inspector Cheryl Lewendon said: "This was a violent and sustained attack involving the use of a weapon. "The assault took place on a busy shopping parade in front of members of the public. "We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident and or who has any information that will help identify the suspect." Police said the victim is now in a stable condition. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting Operation Barnstable.
