Man jailed after robbing Hove business at knifepoint

A man has been jailed for three years and four months after robbing a business at knifepoint in Hove. James Creaghan, of the Drive, Hove, admitted to robbery and possession of a bladed article in a public place following the incident at Connaught Leisure, George Street, on January 14. Police said the 29-year-old was spotted before the incident dropping a large kitchen knife, before picking it up and heading into the arcade. Officers added that Creaghan produced the blade and demanded money from a member of staff, before leaving with a quantity of cash in a carrier bag. Soon after, he was seen dropping some of the money as he left the arcade and headed toward Blatchington Road. On February 13, he was sentenced to 40 months' imprisonment for the robbery and six months' imprisonment for being in possession of a bladed article in a public place, to run concurrently.
