Man jailed after stabbing in Brighton

A man has been jailed for 12 years after stabbing another man following an argument in Brighton, leaving the victim seriously injured. Arron Lee Owston carried out the attack in Pavilion Gardens area in June, stabbing the 38-year-old victim in the right-hand side after CCTV footage showed the pair having a verbal altercation. The 28-year-old, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and three years on extended licence, after admitting to grievous bodily harm with intent, knife-point robbery and actual bodily harm. DS Joe Jardine said: "Owston showed little regard for his community or victim in this case. "The level of violence involved with the assault in June was completely unacceptable. "The victim has been extremely brave in coming forward and assisting our investigation and I would like to praise his commitment to the case. "This is deservedly, a lengthy sentence for Owston and I hope it goes someway to providing the victim with some closure."
