Police have released a photo of a man they want to talk to in connection with an assault in Worthing which left a man with 'life-changing' injuries. The 30-year-old victim and two friends was walking along Chapel Road between 3.10am and 3.30am on Sunday, August 25, when they were confronted by a group of young men, one of whom spat at a woman accompanying the victim. Police said he tried to intervene but was head-butted by one of the group, fracturing his skull and damaging nerves which required extensive surgery. Officers said he was left with life-changing injuries as a result of the assault. The man officers wish to speak to is described as white, aged 18-20, and was wearing a ripped white hooded jumper bearing a sports logo on the chest. PC Steve Richardson said: "This was a particularly violent and unprovoked attack on an entirely innocent victim, who had only intervened to try to keep the peace. "He was left with life-changing injuries and hence it is vital we identify who was responsible." Anyone with information about the incident, or knows of the man's whereabouts, is asked to phone 101 without delay, quoting reference number 47190143805. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
