A 41-year-old man has died after he was found lying in The Street in Thakeham, near Pulborough.
Officers were called to the scene near the White Lion Inn on Friday at 11.40pm.
According to police, paramedics also arrived at the incident but despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said:
'Emergency services were called to a report of a man with a head injury who was found lying in The Street, Thakeham, near the White Lion Inn at 11.40pm on Friday (9 October).
'The air ambulance landed and paramedics went to the scene to administer first aid. Sadly despite their efforts, the 41-year-old man died at the scene.
'The death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner’s officer.;
