Mariah Carey announced as headline act for Brighton Pride 2020

Mariah Carey has today (February, 14) been announced as the headline act for the FABULOSO Pride in the Park event at Brighton and Hove Pride 2020. Mariah will perform at the two-day event in Preston Park on Saturday (August, 1) marking the 30th anniversary of the event, and the first time she has ever performed at a Pride event in the world. Brighton Pride said Carey consistently uses her platform to support and advance LGBTQ+ equality and acceptance, receiving the GLAAD Ally Award in 2016. The star reportedly has 19 'Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles', more than any other solo artist in history. It follows the announcement yesterday that The Pussycat Dolls will be performing as the headline act on Sunday (August, 2). Paul Kemp, Director of Brighton & Hove Pride, said: “We are beyond thrilled that Mariah is joining our LGBTQ+ celebrations for our 30th anniversary. "Mariah is a staunch LGBTQ+ ally and having her perform at Pride really helps us highlight our campaigning for LGBTQ+ equality to a global audience. "Mariah is headlining the main stage but there are loads more artist announcements to come. "Watch this space for more great LGBTQ+ performers and allies over the coming weeks.” Brighton and Hove Pride said the event is a celebration of how far we have come, but it is also an ongoing campaign for those marginalised communities at home and abroad who still suffer persecution on a daily basis. Fundraising events will ensure vital funds for the local LGBTQ+ and community projects.
