A medical student is due in court today (May 31) in connection with an attack on a woman in Brighton, who's still in hospital after a "noxious substance" was thrown over her.

Since May 20, police have been investigating the attack, against a victim in her 20s, which took place in the doorway of a property in Steine Gardens.

Milad Rouf, 25, of Newport Road, Roath, Cardiff, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and administering poison with intent to endanger life.

He was remanded in custody, before his scheduled appearance at Brighton Magistrates' Court today.

Police said late on Sunday night that the victim has potentially life changing injuries.

The incident has been widely labelled an "acid attack", though police have not given details of the substance involved.

Information in connection with the investigation is still welcome.

It can be offered online or by calling 101 quoting Operation Overstone.
