Meghan And Harry Release First Picture Of Daughter Lilibet

The first picture of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's daughter Lilibet has been released in a Christmas card.

The image shows Harry hugging their son Archie, as Meghan raises Lilibet into the air.

The picture was taken by Alexi Lubomirski this summer at the couple's home in Santa Barbara, California.

A message on the card reads:

"This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a 'Mama' and a 'Papa', and Lili made us a family.

"As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organisations that honour and protect families - from those being relocated from Afghanistan, to American families in need of paid parental leave: Team Rubicon, Welcome.US, Human First Coalition, Humanity Crew & Paid Leave For All, PL+US, Marshall Plan for Moms.

"Wishing you a happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year, from our family to yours! As ever, Harry, Meghan, Archie & Lili".

Team Rubicon is a charity that utilises "the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams".

Recent missions include helping with the aftermath of this month's tornadoes which struck in the US.

It has also helped with the resettlement of Afghan families in the US.

A statement from the Sussex's organisation, Archewell, said:

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had the opportunity to connect with Team Rubicon earlier this year during their visit to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.

"They were moved by Task Force Liberty, home to 10,000 Afghan refugees, and their donation will support resettlement sites like TF Liberty across the country, particularly as they find permanent homes for Afghan refugees in 2022."

It added that organisations helping to provide paid leave for families were also being supported.

A statement from Team Rubicon said:

"We're grateful to Archewell Foundation and Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their support of our efforts to welcome Afghan families into communities across the country.

"We are honoured to be amongst the organizations featured in their family's holiday card this year.

"Our team was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet The Duke and Duchess of Sussex earlier this year at one of the sites we supported, Task Force Liberty, in New Jersey.

"Afghan family resettlement is a deeply personal mission for our volunteers and with this generous donation, it is our privilege to be able to support them as they transition into their new homes in the New Uear."

Welcome.US is another organisation working to resettle Afghan refugees in the US.

Chief executive officer Nazanin Ash said:

"Welcome.US is mobilising an all-country response to support our new Afghan neighbors, and we are honored to receive support from Archewell Foundation and Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in this effort.

"With this generous gift, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not only help thousands of Afghan families as they rebuild their lives but will also create opportunities for all of us to unite through compassionate service and common purpose."
