Missing Portslade Man Tom Jennings Reportedly Found Dead

A man from Portslade who had been missing since last Thursday has reportedly been found dead this afternoon (Tuesday 9).

As previously reported, Tom Jennings had been missing since leaving home to travel to the B&Q store in Shoreham last Thursday (March 4).

He was last seen departing from a bus in Western Road, near Farm Road, at around 10.16am that day.

His mother, Sarah Jennings, has confirmed in a social media post this afternoon (Tuesday, March 9) that the 27-year-old's body was found in the basement area of an unused flat.

At around 3.20pm, she wrote:

"We have just had some terrible news. Tom has been found dead in the basement area of an unused flat.

"My heart is broken."

Police said the body a found outside a basement flat in Norfolk Square, Brighton, just before 12.50pm.

Chief Inspector Nick Dias said:

“Sadly a body has been found believed to be that of missing Tom Jennings who was also known as Tom Wright. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”

The family of Tom said:

“We are absolutely devastated by the outcome. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us search for our loving son.”

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death and urge anyone with information to contact us online or call 101, quoting serial 262 of 04/03. 

On March 6, Sarah Jennings said her son was a very vulnerable young adult and had been missing important medication for two days, so was likely to be slurring or sleepy.

She's previously thanked the large social media response to her son's disappearance.
