More Cycle Hangers For Brighton & Hove After First Batch All Rented Out

Just weeks after they were first installed, all 120 spaces available have been taken up by residents wanting a safe and secure location to store their bikes.

It comes as we prepare to install the next batch of 40 in the next few weeks, with a total of 100 scheduled to be on the city streets by the end of the year.

The cycle hangar scheme is being rolled out in stages and locations will be advertised through a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) before they are confirmed for installation.

Councillor Steve Davis, Co-Chair of the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee said:

“It’s great that so many spaces have already been taken up by residents, but not surprising in the least.

“We knew there was huge demand for these hangars; that people wanted secure storage for their bikes and I am looking forward to seeing even more on the city streets in the coming weeks and months.

“If we give people the right infrastructure and tools, they’re in a better position to make active travel choices and this is what cycle hangars are doing.”

Anyone can apply for a space in a cycle hangar as long as you live close to a hangar and there is availability.  Each space costs £60 per year, £39 for six months or £24 for three months.

Residents who wish to apply for a space can email rentals@falco.co.uk or call them on 01538 380080, specifying which hangar they would like a space in. They will then be contacted by Falco about the next steps.

If there are no spaces available, residents will be placed on a waiting list and informed when one becomes available.
