More Than 50 Homes Evacuated In Burgess Hill After Collision Causes Gas Leak

More than 50 properties were forced to evacuate after a collision in Burgess Hill caused a gas leak.

Police were called to the incident on Perryfields at 6.50pm last night (Friday).

According to officers, around 60 residents were 'temporarily' evacuated - and a cordon was put in place.

People have now returned to their homes.

Anyone who saw the collision is being urged to call police on 101.

A spokesman from Sussex Police said:

"Officers were called to Perryfields, Burgess Hill around 6.50pm on Friday.

"The collision caused a gas leak and a cordon was put in place to ensure the safety of those in the vicinity.

"Around 60 properties were temporarily evacuated while the area was made safe.

"All residents have now been allowed to return and now injured have been ported.

"Anyone who saw the collision or who has any other information is to contact the police online or via calling 101 quoting serial 1319."
