The World Naked Bike Ride returns to Brighton on Sunday, June 9 .
An estimated 500 cyclists will take part in the international protest, by joining the 18th Brighton Naked Bike Ride next month.
Cyclists will assemble at Preston Park at midday for a 2 p.m. start, to ride around the city, taking in the centre and Kingsway and finishing on Maderia Drive for a gathering on the naturist beach.
The idea is that being as 'Bare As You Dare,' (this year's bike ride slogan) raises awareness of the message that 'fossil fuels continue to be the greatest threat to the planet and all life, including humans'. Nakedness though is optional.
Organisers say: 'Celebrating the freedom of cycling naked, with body paint, decorations and slogans are a celebration of body positivity, affirming that we are all beautiful in our skin when not hidden by status-symbol fashion clothing, itself a massive user of water and source of carbon dioxide'.
It also reminds people that we are all vulnerable on the roads.
The public is welcome to support the riders and they're invited to donate via Eventbrite - you can also just turn up, with your bike and your birthday suit.
Organisers say they're looking for volunteers to help Marshall the ride - contact brighton.wnbr@gmail.com. They're also being supported by Sussex Police.
Keep in mind:
- The ride is not circular so you’ll need to take your clothes with you.
- The ride is family friendly; under 16s may ride clothed and in the care of a responsible adult.
- All forms of cycle are welcome including adapted machines and legal electric bikes.
