New consultation for proposed A27 bypass after 'copy and paste' errors found in documents

Another four weeks’ consultation of plans to improve the A27 at Arundel will be held after Highways England found a number of ‘copy and paste’ errors in the original documents. Last year, plans for six possible routes to bypass the town and cut congestion were put forward, with the consultation ending in October. Now all those who took part will be able to look at their responses again. A spokesman said: "In going through the consultation we noticed a number of errors in the materials we published – mostly transcribing errors, copy and paste errors." The nine errors covered all six options and ranged from the impact various routes would have on barn owls and homes to the impact on listed buildings and heritage sites. Jason Homes, programme leader, said: "We’ve always been upfront that we want to give people the best possible information to help them have their say on options for improving the A27 near Arundel. "We have published a list of corrections to the materials from our consultation last autumn to following a comprehensive review of the documents. "The corrections do not change the overall conclusions of our assessment of the various options presented in the consultation materials, or the design of any of the six proposed scheme options. "We are inviting anyone who gave a response to the consultation and who feels that this update changes their opinion on the proposals to amend their response to the consultation. "We have published a brief explanation alongside each of the errors to help people understand their effect." The consultation ends on March 1.
