There's been a new weather warning of likely flooding causing disruption in Sussex, covering between 6pm this evening and Wednesday morning.
According to the Met Office, Britain's official weather forecaster, rain — heavy at times — is likely to cause some flooding and disruption to some places between 6pm this evening (Tuesday October 24) and 10am the following morning.
In the warning, given at 11am today, meteorologists said that scattered showers were expected to become more frequent and increasingly organised into a longer spell of rain through Tuesday evening.
Then, they are predicted to clear gradually eastward during Wednesday morning.
15-25 mm of rain (up to one inch) is expected fairly widely but forecasters added that there is a chance that 50-60 mm (up to 2.3 inches) could fall in Sussex, and also in east Hampshire, Surrey and western parts of Kent.
Met Office experts said the effects of the rain could slow down bus and train journeys, bring additional risk to drivers from spray on the roads, and some flooding of a few homes and businesses might take place.
