New Self-Service Visitor Information Point On Worthing Seafront

A new self-service visitor information point is now open at the Coastal Office on Worthing seafront.

Featuring a large touch-screen which will enable visitors and residents alike to access the Time for Worthing website, it also includes a map featuring key landmarks and leaflet racks with Worthing Heritage Trails, Donkey Bike leaflets and visitor guides. A similar digital information point is located in the foyer of Worthing Town hall.

The new information point has been created with accessibility needs in mind. The screen is sited at a wheelchair accessible height, there is a braille sign highlighting the web address and a QR code which links visitors to the Time for Worthing website from their own device.

The scheme has been funded by Worthing Borough Council and provides an innovative response to the issue of visitor information.

Worthing Coastal Office has recently been given a facelift, with the whole exterior encased in ‘under the sea’ themed street art.

Cllr Rita Garner, Worthing’s Cabinet Member for Culture & Leisure, said:

“It's been many years since Worthing's Official Tourism Information Office closed. Tourism plays a big part in the town’s economy but, with most people accessing information via their mobile phones, there is now less demand for a physical office.

“The new Coastal Office site will allow everyone to access information about what's on, what they can see and do in our town and more. Ultimately, we are working to boost the local economy by showing both visitors and locals all that our seaside town has to offer.”
