Teddy Bond from Littlehampton has collected 92 football shirts for children in Uganda after learning his mum's friend was going there to carry out charity work.
Teddy's mission to collect the shirts was symbolic of his wish 'to share the joy of sportsmanship with others'.
He came up with the idea after learning about his mum’s friend Louise's volunteer trip to Uganda, focused on improving a school and orphanage in the Kabale District.
Teddy said:
"Kids love football, and I wanted the children in Uganda to experience the joy of playing the sport with their friends, just like I do."
The recipients showed their gratitude through a 'touching' video, conveying how Teddy's gesture had enriched their lives.
Louise, the MD of a Sussex-based marketing agency, commented that, amidst the various projects undertaken during the volunteer trip, Teddy's contribution stood out for its 'sincerity and impact'.
She added:
"Teddy's contribution embodies the essence of volunteerism and reminds us of the profound impact of simple acts of kindness."
Louise undertook the trip to Uganda to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Tiger Marketing. She joined the One Love Project with 65 other volunteers, aiming to build three trade areas for the less academic children to ensure they learn skills within the carpentry, electrics, weaving & sewing areas to help benefit their community.
Louise said:
"The school is a safe haven for these children, but it is of very basic construction with limited teaching equipment and resources. Ultimately, they are in great need of donations, so if you would like to extend your support, please do so here. "
