No More Big Screen For Brighton Marina

After a pause in displaying Euro2020 games to the public at Brighton Marina, organisers of the Big Screen have closed it altogether.

The Marina's management had begun to review security and Covid safety procedures after some people watching England's opening game against Croatia began to behave anti-socially.

Their latest statement confirmed their decision to close the Big Screen altogether.

Marina bosses said:

"The health and safety of our guests is of paramount importance to us so we have taken the difficult decision to remove the digital screen.

"We appreciate that today’s update will not be welcome news to those who have made plans to attend these live events at Brighton Marina.

"We can only apologise for the disappointment this may cause.

"All other events and retail remain unaffected."

On Sunday June 13, visitors reported gates being set up at the entrance, with the aim of controlling the number of people entering the event.

It followed an earlier statement by Brighton Marina that the venue's capacity would be filled only to 50%.

But, during the game's television presentation, visitors reported bottles and cans being thrown, leading to some supporters deciding to stay later, to help clear up debris described as including glass and other waste.

The Marina was due to show all the matches, not just the England games.
