No Trains Between Hastings And Tunbridge Wells This Week

Trains running between Hastings and Tunbridge Wells are cancelled until Friday (Oct 29) this week for engineering work.

Services between Tunbridge Wells and Battle and between Battle and Hastings will be replaced by a bus service

Network Rail says doing all the work in one go will mean less disruption for passengers.

Work started on Saturday (Oct 23) in order to reinforce the railway cutting at Wadhurst to prevent future landslips. The steep-sided entrances to the Victorian-built Wadhurst Tunnel have been affected by heavy rainfall and subsidence over the past few years.

Network Rail has published the following alternative travel options:

Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on the following routes:

  • Southeastern Highspeed services between Ashford and London St Pancras (please be aware these services are expected to be very busy at peak times)
  • Southeastern services between Ashford and London via Tonbridge

Southern Rail services between:

  • St Leonards Warrior Square, Hastings and Ashford (for connection to Southeastern services to London)
  • St Leonards Warrior Square, Hastings and London (via Lewes)

Passengers from Stonegate, Wadhurst and Frant can use the Southern Rail route from Uckfield to London at no extra cost. However, this is a low frequency service outside peak time so please check before you travel.

Parking

  • Hastings Line passengers with current car park season tickets can use our Priory Road car park at Tonbridge Station at no extra cost during the work.
  • Southeastern car park season ticket holders can park at Crowborough and Eridge stations at no extra cost.
