Official Warning About "Rain, Ice And Snow" Covering All Sussex On Sunday

Met Office weather warning

All Sussex is subject to an official warning about dangerously cold and wet weather until late on Sunday night (January 24).

The Met Office says an area of rain and snow is likely to bring icy stretches on roads, and some travel disruption.

According to forecasters, high ground such as the tops of the South Downs is most likely to be affected.

The 'yellow' status of the warning means 'be aware'.

Britain's official weather bureau said:

"An area of rain and snow will linger over southeast England Sunday leading to some icy stretches and some travel disruption."

We're being told that some roads and railways likely to be affected, leading to longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces could occur, and there will probably be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The forecasters added:

"An area of rain, sleet and snow will move into southeast England from the west on Sunday morning, lingering here for much of the day before gradually clearing Sunday night.

"1-3 cm of snow is possible in places, mainly above 100 m, with icy stretches forming as this arrives - some persisting during the day or reforming as the precipitation clears during the evening."

In this prediction, made by the German weather service Wetterdienst based on weather data received by 6pm UK time on Saturday, you can see bands of rain and snow approaching, then crossing the More Radio area.
