Part Of A259 To Close Overnight For 39 Days For Resurfacing Work

Road users are reminded that the A259 will be closed for urgent resurfacing and repairs between Winchelsea and Rye from Monday 12 September to Friday 21 October 2022.

National Highways say they'll only be carrying out the work overnight, in order to cause as little disruption as possible.

Work will be carried out Monday to Friday, between 8pm and 6am between Sea Road, Winchelsea, and the Kettle O’ Fish roundabout, Rye,

However, to complete this work safely, contractors will need to close the A259 between the junction with the B2093 (Hastings) and the Kettle O’Fish roundabout.

A signed diversion will be in place going in both directions via the B2093, A28, A268, Rye Road to Skinners Roundabout.

Homes and businesses with direct access from the A259 between the B2093 and Sea Road (Winchelsea) will be able to access it from the Hastings direction.

For Harbour Road, access will change as work progresses, but will be maintained.  More information is available at  nationalhighways.co.uk/A259Rye

The project team will be at The River Haven Hotel in Rye on Monday 15 August from 10am to 4pm and on Tuesday 30 August from 10am to 6pm if people want to find out more, or the customer contact centre can be contacted on 0300 123 5000.
