Pedestrian left seriously injured following 'violent' incident in Brighton street

Police are investigating a 'violent' incident, involving a pedestrian and a driver in a street in Brighton, which left the pedestrian seriously injured. Officers said the 53-year-old local pedestrian was crossing the road at Bristol Gardens when a blue Toyota Yaris turned past him into Whitehawk Road. According to the force, the pedestrian remonstrated with the driver as the car passed. The driver then got out and there was reportedly a struggle between the two before he drove off. Police said the pedestrian went to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and was treated for serious back injuries, before being discharged five days later. A 42-year-old man has been interviewed under caution on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, following the incident on March 16. Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened during the incident on March 16. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 674 of 16/03.
