Pedestrian left with 'life-threatening' injuries after being struck by car in Worthing

A man has been left with 'life-threatening' injuries after he was struck by a car in Worthing yesterday evening (Friday, 15). Police said the 36-year-old pedestrian, who is local, was crossing the A259 North Street just before 8pm, when a black Nissan Qashqai collided with him. Officers said he suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. The 40-year-old driver of the Nissan, a man from Worthing, was uninjured. Police said the road was closed for several hours while rescue, recovery and investigation work took place and was fully re-opened around 1.30am. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting Operation Maplehurst.
