Person dies after being struck by train between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport

A person has died after being struck by a train between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport this morning (Thursday, 19). British Transport Police said they were called to East Croydon station at 9am following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, but the person died at the scene, and officers are now working to identify them and inform their family. As a result, severe disruption is reported on railway lines across Sussex today.

Tickets are being accepted on Metrobus, Stagecoach and Brighton & Hove Buses at this time. Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
