Person taken to hospital after Brighton basement blaze

A person has been taken to hospital after being rescued from a fire in Brighton yesterday (Sunday, 17). Firefighters were called to reports of the blaze in Chesham Place just after 4pm. Six engines and the aerial ladder platform were used to takle the flames affecting the basement flat of a four storey building. Officials said 12 breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used during the height of the fire. One casualty was reportedly rescued and taken to hospital by SECAmb. Crews remained at the scene dampening down areas at 6pm. Road closures were also in place while the gas and electric supplies were shut off.
