A suspicious fire at a flat in Hove early this morning has resulted in police officers discovering a cannabis factory at the premises.
The fire was reported at a flat in Second Ave at around 5.30am this morning.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue tweeted at around 6.30am to say salvage operations were being carried out and everyone had been accounted for.
Following the extinguishing of the fire, police entered the property and discovered a quantity of cannabis plants in two flats, which they seized and destroyed.
The cause of the fire is as yet unknown.
Church Road was completely cordoned off to traffic for a time, while emergency services dealt with the incident.
