A multi-agency search and rescue operation was carried out in the sea around Brighton Palace Pier yesterday (April 12).
Reports were made, just before 4pm, of a person who was thought to have entered the water at the 'Doughnut' Groyne' near the pier .
Teams from the coastguard and RNLI searched rough seas off the coast of Brighton Beach for several hours, with emergency services personnel and volunteers joining them from Shoreham, Littlehampton and Newhaven.
The search continued until around 10pm last night and has resumed this morning (April 13).
