Two teenage girls have been rescued on the River Adur, in a multi-agency operation, after the tide cut them off from the shore.
It happened by the old Tollbridge on Saturday afternoon at around 3.45pm.
They were taken back to the lifeboat station and checked over by ambulance paramedics before being released.
South East Coast Ambulance Service has confirmed neither of the girls needed medical treatment.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue has reminded people to take extra care around open water this summer, saying advice can be found on staying safe along the coast here: https://rnli.org/safety/know-the-risks/tides”
