Plea For Babes In The Woods Killer To Admit His Crimes Before He Dies

Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway

The killer of two nine year old girls in 1986, is being urged by their parents to tell the truth about the killings before he dies of brain cancer.

In an exclusive interview with The Mirror newspaper, the families of Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway have released a joint statement, condemning Russell Bishop, who is now receiving palliative care in jail, for being a "coward" for not taking responsibility for his crimes.

Bishop, now 55-years-old, was 20 when he murdered the two girls in Brighton and left their bodies in Wild Park.

He was cleared at his first murder trial and has always denied the killings.

He was only brought to justice in 2018, following a campaign by the girls' parents, a change in the law and evidence produced due to scientific advancements.

While on trial, he admitted to kidnapping, raping and leaving for dead a seven-year-old girl at Devil's Dyke.

But the girl survived and her evidence secured a conviction for the murders of Nicole and Karen.

Nicola’s parents Barrie Fellows and Susan Eismann and Karen’s mum Michelle Hadaway released this statement to The Mirror newspaper with the help of Nicola’s cousin Lorna Heffron:

“Russell Bishop has a chance to come clean before he dies unless he is a bigger coward than he has always seemed.

“And if he doesn’t have the guts to confess his crimes and admit his guilt, he will be the loser, so our message to him is simple.

“We don’t need your admission of what you did to our beautiful girls. Your refusal doesn’t matter to us.

“We are satisfied with the correct verdicts of the Old Bailey jury in December 2018. You are guilty on both counts of their murders and you are the creation of your own guilt-ridden demise.

"But your admission would show you have finally had the courage to take responsibility for your despicable crimes.”

According to the newspaper, Bishop, a former roofer, who now resides at HMP Franklin in Durham, is now riddled with cancer and may have just weeks to live.
