Sussex Police has begun an investigation to find suspected fly-tippers in Southbourne who have also damaged a farmer's crops.

According to officers, a farmer discovered waste dumped in a field at the northern end of Stein Road around 1pm on Thursday (July 16).

Not only could the crops potentially have been contaminated by the rubbish being dumped among the vegetation, the vehicle used to transport the waste caused damage by flattening the crops.

Police think the waste may have been from a possible shop refit or refurbishment.

An appeal for witnesses and information has been launched.

Officers can be contacted on-line, or by dialling 101. The incident number is 47200119163.
