Police say they're no closer to identifying mystery man after body discovered in Eastbourne

Police are still no closer to identifying a man whose body was discovered along the seashore in Eastbourne earlier this year. The body was discovered by a woman who was walking her dog along the seashore at Cow Gap on August 19. Police have carried out extensive enquiries and a post mortem examination but still can't work out who the man might be. East Sussex coroner's officer Sarah Cockram said: "We are appealing for anyone who might recognise the man from his description to get in touch as soon as possible so that his family can be told of his death." Officers have described the man as Mediterranean or Middle Eastern in appearance, 5'7" tall, possibly in his 30s, with brown eyes, a full black beard and short black hair. He was wearing black trainer socks with an orange trim, a black shoe or boot, size nine (European 42), with a steel toe cap, and had a green material bracelet on his wrist. Anyone with information is asked to phone 101, quoting serial 796 of 19/08.
